Narrative:
Leveling off over byp at 11000 ft at 310 KTS, a VFR target caused a TCASII RA and made us climb back up to 12700 ft unable to move that plane. We never saw the target, a parachute plane, but according to the controller, we were within 1 mi.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN MD80 TOOK EVASIVE ACTION IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA CAUSED BY A PARACHUTE JUMP ACFT WITHIN 1 MI OF ONE OF THE MAJOR ARR RTES TO DFW ARPT. AS THE RPTR WAS LEVELING AT 11000 FT, THE TCASII RA INSTRUCTED A CLB WHICH WAS STOPPED AT 12700 FT.
