Narrative:
On entering base to runway 19, I went through gumps check. Winds were reported at 240 degrees at 22 KTS and gusting. I put in one notch of flaps. On final, I reduced manifold pressure to 11-12 inches and reduced indicated airspeed to approximately 85 mph. I then returned power to 13-14 inches. Over the threshold I pulled back power slightly (not to idle because of winds). I let left wheel touch (without a hard hit). The plane then slowly started to sag to the left. (I was still over centerline about 1000 ft down the runway.) I pushed throttle full forward. The plane responded quickly and lifted off the runway. I declared a go around. The tower said I had 3 gear down. On go around I had a gear 'in transit' light on. I reached for gear lever, it was in down position. I cycled lever up and then down. I got 2 greens (right main did not light). I pushed emergency gear down release. (Automatic deploy was never disabled.) I kicked rudder left and right. The third green came on. I requested a fly-by of the tower for a visual check. Tower report 3 gear down and cleared me to land. I reported on downwind for landing that I had no indicated airspeed. Altimeter and vsi were responding. I executed a normal traffic pattern approach and landed without incident. At no time did I have any indication of a propeller strike. Upon shutdown, examination showed propeller tip damage, pitot tube hanging loose from wing, fiberglass wingtip scraped, left aileron outboard tip scraped, and marks on outboard side of left main tire. Walking the runway with airport personnel, we saw what looked like 20 marks from the propeller tips approximately 10 ft left of centerline and a 2-3 ft mark that could have been from the pitot tube.

Title: PA28 PVT PLT FAILS TO NOTE A GEAR UNSAFE CONDITION WHILE ON FINAL APCH FOR LNDG. L GEAR STARTS TO FOLD ON RWY AND PLT PERFORMS A GAR. AFTER EVENT INSPECTION SHOWED PROP STRIKE AND OTHER ASSORTED DAMAGE. LOW TIME PLT DISTR BY HIGH WINDS AT ARPT.
Narrative: ON ENTERING BASE TO RWY 19, I WENT THROUGH GUMPS CHK. WINDS WERE RPTED AT 240 DEGS AT 22 KTS AND GUSTING. I PUT IN ONE NOTCH OF FLAPS. ON FINAL, I REDUCED MANIFOLD PRESSURE TO 11-12 INCHES AND REDUCED INDICATED AIRSPD TO APPROX 85 MPH. I THEN RETURNED PWR TO 13-14 INCHES. OVER THE THRESHOLD I PULLED BACK PWR SLIGHTLY (NOT TO IDLE BECAUSE OF WINDS). I LET L WHEEL TOUCH (WITHOUT A HARD HIT). THE PLANE THEN SLOWLY STARTED TO SAG TO THE L. (I WAS STILL OVER CTRLINE ABOUT 1000 FT DOWN THE RWY.) I PUSHED THROTTLE FULL FORWARD. THE PLANE RESPONDED QUICKLY AND LIFTED OFF THE RWY. I DECLARED A GAR. THE TWR SAID I HAD 3 GEAR DOWN. ON GAR I HAD A GEAR 'IN TRANSIT' LIGHT ON. I REACHED FOR GEAR LEVER, IT WAS IN DOWN POS. I CYCLED LEVER UP AND THEN DOWN. I GOT 2 GREENS (R MAIN DID NOT LIGHT). I PUSHED EMER GEAR DOWN RELEASE. (AUTOMATIC DEPLOY WAS NEVER DISABLED.) I KICKED RUDDER L AND R. THE THIRD GREEN CAME ON. I REQUESTED A FLY-BY OF THE TWR FOR A VISUAL CHK. TWR RPT 3 GEAR DOWN AND CLRED ME TO LAND. I RPTED ON DOWNWIND FOR LNDG THAT I HAD NO INDICATED AIRSPD. ALTIMETER AND VSI WERE RESPONDING. I EXECUTED A NORMAL TFC PATTERN APCH AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AT NO TIME DID I HAVE ANY INDICATION OF A PROP STRIKE. UPON SHUTDOWN, EXAMINATION SHOWED PROP TIP DAMAGE, PITOT TUBE HANGING LOOSE FROM WING, FIBERGLASS WINGTIP SCRAPED, L AILERON OUTBOARD TIP SCRAPED, AND MARKS ON OUTBOARD SIDE OF L MAIN TIRE. WALKING THE RWY WITH ARPT PERSONNEL, WE SAW WHAT LOOKED LIKE 20 MARKS FROM THE PROP TIPS APPROX 10 FT L OF CTRLINE AND A 2-3 FT MARK THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE PITOT TUBE.
