Narrative:
The captain and I were out on a 5 day tour of which the event was on the last day. Dispatch planned us starting in apa on mar/wed/97 (day of event), ferry to aus to pick up a passenger scheduled to depart at XA00, arriving in fll at XC30. Planning to fly to tpa 45 mins away to give the plane to another crew and getting on an airline to go home at XE25. Passenger shows up late at XA30. We take off at XA45, arrive in fll at XD15, depart fll at XD30 arriving into tpa at XE30. The event occurred on the last leg from fll to tpa. Tpa approach asked if we had the field in sight. I was flying and pointed out pie and told the captain I had the field in sight thinking pie was tpa. We started a left base for pie, thinking it's tpa and captain says, 'I think we just flew over tpa.' we call tower and tower gives us an assigned heading to be vectored around for another visual in behind 5 other arriving aircraft. Case of mistaken airport at night caused us to get vectored around for another visual approach.

Narrative: THE CAPT AND I WERE OUT ON A 5 DAY TOUR OF WHICH THE EVENT WAS ON THE LAST DAY. DISPATCH PLANNED US STARTING IN APA ON MAR/WED/97 (DAY OF EVENT), FERRY TO AUS TO PICK UP A PAX SCHEDULED TO DEPART AT XA00, ARRIVING IN FLL AT XC30. PLANNING TO FLY TO TPA 45 MINS AWAY TO GIVE THE PLANE TO ANOTHER CREW AND GETTING ON AN AIRLINE TO GO HOME AT XE25. PAX SHOWS UP LATE AT XA30. WE TAKE OFF AT XA45, ARRIVE IN FLL AT XD15, DEPART FLL AT XD30 ARRIVING INTO TPA AT XE30. THE EVENT OCCURRED ON THE LAST LEG FROM FLL TO TPA. TPA APCH ASKED IF WE HAD THE FIELD IN SIGHT. I WAS FLYING AND POINTED OUT PIE AND TOLD THE CAPT I HAD THE FIELD IN SIGHT THINKING PIE WAS TPA. WE STARTED A L BASE FOR PIE, THINKING IT'S TPA AND CAPT SAYS, 'I THINK WE JUST FLEW OVER TPA.' WE CALL TWR AND TWR GIVES US AN ASSIGNED HDG TO BE VECTORED AROUND FOR ANOTHER VISUAL IN BEHIND 5 OTHER ARRIVING ACFT. CASE OF MISTAKEN ARPT AT NIGHT CAUSED US TO GET VECTORED AROUND FOR ANOTHER VISUAL APCH.
