Narrative:
On initial climb out at 2000 ft MSL, captain smelled fumes in cockpit. Fumes smelled like electrical smoke. First officer also began to smell fumes. Both pilots donned oxygen masks. The csc (flight attendant) advised the captain that strong fumes and light smoke were present in the passenger cabin. The captain advised the csc to prepare for immediate landing. The first officer coordinated with departure control for return to airport and executed appropriate checklists while captain flew short approach to runway 17 mco. After landing the aircraft was stopped on taxiway and inspected by fire crew. Fire crew observed nothing abnormal. Aircraft then returned to terminal. Post flight inspection by maintenance revealed seizure of gasper fan. Elapsed time from initial fumes to touchdown was 6 mins.

Title: B737-232 ACFT. INITIAL CLBOUT, ELECTRICAL SMOKE DETECTED IN COCKPIT AND CABIN, OXYGEN MASKS DONNED BY FLC, ATC ADVISED AND ACFT RETURNED TO DEP ARPT. ACFT EQUIP PROB. GASPER FAN SEIZED.
Narrative: ON INITIAL CLBOUT AT 2000 FT MSL, CAPT SMELLED FUMES IN COCKPIT. FUMES SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL SMOKE. FO ALSO BEGAN TO SMELL FUMES. BOTH PLTS DONNED OXYGEN MASKS. THE CSC (FLT ATTENDANT) ADVISED THE CAPT THAT STRONG FUMES AND LIGHT SMOKE WERE PRESENT IN THE PAX CABIN. THE CAPT ADVISED THE CSC TO PREPARE FOR IMMEDIATE LNDG. THE FO COORDINATED WITH DEP CTL FOR RETURN TO ARPT AND EXECUTED APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS WHILE CAPT FLEW SHORT APCH TO RWY 17 MCO. AFTER LNDG THE ACFT WAS STOPPED ON TXWY AND INSPECTED BY FIRE CREW. FIRE CREW OBSERVED NOTHING ABNORMAL. ACFT THEN RETURNED TO TERMINAL. POST FLT INSPECTION BY MAINT REVEALED SEIZURE OF GASPER FAN. ELAPSED TIME FROM INITIAL FUMES TO TOUCHDOWN WAS 6 MINS.
