Narrative:
We were cleared to 5000 ft by austin approach. As we descended through 6000 ft, approach called and told us maintain 6000 ft and called traffic at 5500 ft. We advised ATC that we had already descended through 6000 ft and would climb back to 6000 ft. As we began pitch reversal, TCASII called traffic and advised us to monitor vertical speed. We complied and spotted traffic at about 2 O'clock. The traffic then began a climbing turn towards us. Traffic passed over and behind us. A call to supervisor at austin approach control confirmed the events. ATC was not working the intruder aircraft at the time. Supplemental information from acn 368039: TCASII then commanded a descend RA to which we immediately complied.

Title: SUPER 80 GETS A LATE TA FROM APCH CTLR ON TFC AT 5500 FT AT AUS. MLG WAS OUT OF 6000 FT IN DSCNT. TCASII CLB RESOLUTION FAILED WHEN THE VFR ACFT CLBED TOWARDS MLG. S80 DOVE TO AVOID NMAC, FOLLOWING TCASII NEW COMMANDS.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO 5000 FT BY AUSTIN APCH. AS WE DSNDED THROUGH 6000 FT, APCH CALLED AND TOLD US MAINTAIN 6000 FT AND CALLED TFC AT 5500 FT. WE ADVISED ATC THAT WE HAD ALREADY DSNDED THROUGH 6000 FT AND WOULD CLB BACK TO 6000 FT. AS WE BEGAN PITCH REVERSAL, TCASII CALLED TFC AND ADVISED US TO MONITOR VERT SPD. WE COMPLIED AND SPOTTED TFC AT ABOUT 2 O'CLOCK. THE TFC THEN BEGAN A CLBING TURN TOWARDS US. TFC PASSED OVER AND BEHIND US. A CALL TO SUPVR AT AUSTIN APCH CTL CONFIRMED THE EVENTS. ATC WAS NOT WORKING THE INTRUDER ACFT AT THE TIME. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 368039: TCASII THEN COMMANDED A DSND RA TO WHICH WE IMMEDIATELY COMPLIED.
