Narrative:
On approach to landing at washington national airport, we were conducting the river visual runway 18 approach. Following the potomac sbound to the airport near the roosevelt bridge the captain, who was flying, made a slow left turn off the approach course and penetrated prohibited airspace (P-56). National tower called us and told us to 'move back over the river.' my particular captain doesn't want any input or feedback from his coplts and I was reluctant to say anything for fear of my job. (Typical gear up, flaps up and shut up, etc.) it seems to me that there needs to be a greater awareness of (CRM) among the corporate ranks. Maybe its just our flight department, 'I don't know.' I hope this report serves to help the ASRS somehow.
