Narrative:
On taxiing into clt gate (xx) maintenance personnel noted damage to the #1 left engine nose cowling. It appeared to have been damaged by a catering truck. I performed a preflight inspection of the aircraft in fll, flight XXX and did not notice any damage during the inspection. Damage may have occurred after my preflight inspection and prior to our flight, but damage was not reported to the cockpit.

Title: AN MD80 ON ARR AT GATE WAS ADVISED OF #1 ENG NOSE COWL DAMAGE.
Narrative: ON TAXIING INTO CLT GATE (XX) MAINT PERSONNEL NOTED DAMAGE TO THE #1 L ENG NOSE COWLING. IT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY A CATERING TRUCK. I PERFORMED A PREFLT INSPECTION OF THE ACFT IN FLL, FLT XXX AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY DAMAGE DURING THE INSPECTION. DAMAGE MAY HAVE OCCURRED AFTER MY PREFLT INSPECTION AND PRIOR TO OUR FLT, BUT DAMAGE WAS NOT RPTED TO THE COCKPIT.
