Narrative:
Cleared for river visual approach. Just leaving the river semi base and abeam to OM for lga, leaving 2000 ft, had to set 1700 ft (OM altitude) and started descent for final approach at lga. TCASII TA, then RA 'climb, climb, climb.' at 1750 ft started RA climb. Saw chopper VFR at 1500 ft ( 1 O'clock, low) turning away (more southerly toward downtown nyc). ATC lga approach pointed out traffic as we got TCASII RA. All ok. TCASII 'clear of traffic,' landing uneventful. Thank you all for the TCASII system. Works great! Thank you all at lga ATC -- also great job -- and my first officer spotted the VFR traffic at same time TCASII and ATC pointout. It works.
