Narrative:
I was piloting 1 plane in a flight of 2 (the other plane/pilot is reporting separately). We were on a VFR cross country from pkb to vcp at 7500 ft MSL. By ground we thought we were clear of the pittsburg class B extension to the west side. However, when I looked at my GPS moving map display it showed that we were in the southwest corner of the extension and we may have entered it inadvertently. We immediately turned to the west and descended below 4000 ft MSL. No other aircraft were seen in the area.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLTS OF A CHRISTEN EAGLE BIPLANE AND A BEECH 33, DEBONAIR, FLYING ON A VFR XCOUNTRY TOGETHER INADVERTENTLY PENETRATED CLASS B AIRSPACE DUE TO REFING GND OBJECTS RATHER THAN RADIO POS INDICATIONS. ACCORDING TO THE BIPLANE PLT'S GPS MOVING MAP NAV DISPLAY, THEY WERE JUST INSIDE ONE CORNER OF THE AIRSPACE, WHEREUPON THE PLTS EXITED AT ONCE.
Narrative: I WAS PILOTING 1 PLANE IN A FLT OF 2 (THE OTHER PLANE/PLT IS RPTING SEPARATELY). WE WERE ON A VFR XCOUNTRY FROM PKB TO VCP AT 7500 FT MSL. BY GND WE THOUGHT WE WERE CLR OF THE PITTSBURG CLASS B EXTENSION TO THE W SIDE. HOWEVER, WHEN I LOOKED AT MY GPS MOVING MAP DISPLAY IT SHOWED THAT WE WERE IN THE SW CORNER OF THE EXTENSION AND WE MAY HAVE ENTERED IT INADVERTENTLY. WE IMMEDIATELY TURNED TO THE W AND DSNDED BELOW 4000 FT MSL. NO OTHER ACFT WERE SEEN IN THE AREA.
