Narrative:
On jun/xa/97 about XA30 I was flying on a heading of approximately 130-160 degrees at 3500 ft MSL, approximately 130 KTS, transiting the VFR corridor over lax class B airspace, squawking XXX, talking on 128.55. There was a cloud deck below tops at approximately 2000 ft. I thought I was within the corridor, but when I landed at hhr the tower told me to call TRACON. At TRACON I was told that I was flying in class B airspace offshore. I was very shocked and saddened that I had made such a serious mistake. I reviewed my vors to see where I made the error. I think that I must have had the VOR set to lax, not smo, like I should have had. So I was reading erroneous information on the VOR. This was the first time I had gone through the VFR corridor when there were solid clouds below. I am very sorry for the mistake that I made. Since the incident, I have flown with an instructor to retrain me for flying through the special flight rules area. This will not happen again.

Title: PVT PLT OF AN SMA SEL INADVERTENTLY FLEW INTO CLASS B AIRSPACE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TRANSITION THROUGH THE LOS ANGELES VFR CORRIDOR. SINCE THERE WAS AN UNDERCAST, HE HAD TO USE THE VOR FOR NAV AND HAD TUNED TO THE WRONG STATION FOR TRACK REFING.
