Narrative:
Departed VFR with no IFR clearance. At cur, the tower gives en route clearance during taxi. Approaching the runway with all pretkof checks done, we reported ready for takeoff. The tower then cleared us for takeoff. We asked about the immediate left turnout after departure and we were cleared as requested. We were handed off to departure frequency. Conditions were cavu. Leaving 6000 ft it was realized that no altitude was set. When asked, the center cleared us to FL310. We then verified the routing and was given our as filed plan. No mention was made of the incident and I'm not really sure they even realize the oversight. I felt ok because we were VFR at all times. ATC clearance ascertained shortly after departure and all was well. Corrective action would require ATC to give en route clearance as we do in the united states prior to taxi.

Title: AN ACR B727 FLC DEPARTED WITHOUT AN ENRTE CLRNC FROM A FOREIGN ARPT. THE CLRNC WAS PICKED UP FROM ARTCC LATER.
Narrative: DEPARTED VFR WITH NO IFR CLRNC. AT CUR, THE TWR GIVES ENRTE CLRNC DURING TAXI. APCHING THE RWY WITH ALL PRETKOF CHKS DONE, WE RPTED READY FOR TKOF. THE TWR THEN CLRED US FOR TKOF. WE ASKED ABOUT THE IMMEDIATE L TURNOUT AFTER DEP AND WE WERE CLRED AS REQUESTED. WE WERE HANDED OFF TO DEP FREQ. CONDITIONS WERE CAVU. LEAVING 6000 FT IT WAS REALIZED THAT NO ALT WAS SET. WHEN ASKED, THE CTR CLRED US TO FL310. WE THEN VERIFIED THE ROUTING AND WAS GIVEN OUR AS FILED PLAN. NO MENTION WAS MADE OF THE INCIDENT AND I'M NOT REALLY SURE THEY EVEN REALIZE THE OVERSIGHT. I FELT OK BECAUSE WE WERE VFR AT ALL TIMES. ATC CLRNC ASCERTAINED SHORTLY AFTER DEP AND ALL WAS WELL. CORRECTIVE ACTION WOULD REQUIRE ATC TO GIVE ENRTE CLRNC AS WE DO IN THE UNITED STATES PRIOR TO TAXI.
