Narrative:
Prior to taking the aircraft to the local FSDO for a 6 month flight check it was discovered that the operations specifications called for a 1700 hour tbo for the propellers. Earlier that yr I had a conversation with my pmi regarding an extension to the tbo. He advised that the manufacturer (mccauley) would soon be issuing a new service bulletin advising that the tbo was extended to 2000 hours and that application for an extension would be unnecessary. This seems to be a technical violation. I suppose I expected that I would receive new operations specifications reflecting the manufacturer's revised tbo. In retrospect I suppose one should not rely on the FAA to make such changes. I will request that my pmi make the change to our operations specifications.

Title: A BEECH 58 WAS OPERATED PAST THE TIME BTWN OVERHAUL ON BOTH PROPS DUE TO A VERBAL RPT BY THE FAA PRIMARY MAINT INSPECTOR THAT THE TIME HAD BEEN EXTENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
Narrative: PRIOR TO TAKING THE ACFT TO THE LCL FSDO FOR A 6 MONTH FLT CHK IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE OPS SPECS CALLED FOR A 1700 HR TBO FOR THE PROPS. EARLIER THAT YR I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH MY PMI REGARDING AN EXTENSION TO THE TBO. HE ADVISED THAT THE MANUFACTURER (MCCAULEY) WOULD SOON BE ISSUING A NEW SVC BULLETIN ADVISING THAT THE TBO WAS EXTENDED TO 2000 HRS AND THAT APPLICATION FOR AN EXTENSION WOULD BE UNNECESSARY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A TECHNICAL VIOLATION. I SUPPOSE I EXPECTED THAT I WOULD RECEIVE NEW OPS SPECS REFLECTING THE MANUFACTURER'S REVISED TBO. IN RETROSPECT I SUPPOSE ONE SHOULD NOT RELY ON THE FAA TO MAKE SUCH CHANGES. I WILL REQUEST THAT MY PMI MAKE THE CHANGE TO OUR OPS SPECS.
