Narrative:
Approach cleared flight to descend to 4000 ft from 11000 ft and slow to 210 KTS at 4000 ft. At about 6000 ft, approach told us to climb back to 9000 ft. Clearance was read back as descend to 4000 ft and slow to 210 KTS at 4000 ft. This was the way the clearance was understood by all 3 crew members.
