Narrative:
First officer was flying visual approach to runway 24R lax. Approach kept us high as we turned behind traffic. As first officer was maneuvering and configuring to land, I noticed his turn rate was too slow. We overshot runway centerline. There was another aircraft landing runway 25L. He was less than 2000 ft below as we turned. No TCASII warnings. I don't think there was any conflict. ATC had no comment. High demand area, high workload from aircraft. Attempting to comply with ATC tight spacing requests.
