Narrative:

Proceeding inbound to chicago for landing. Assigned holding at teddy intersection descending to 15000 ft for the hold efc XX20 for landing at chicago. Copilot was attempting to get current ATIS at ord and talk to dispatch about hold and possible divert to dsm. Flight attendant had come to cockpit to be informed and just gone back to cabin. Captain was flying slowing and descending to enter holding when he realized his altitude was 14400 ft MSL and the correction back to altitude assigned 15000 ft MSL was made immediately. There did not seem to be any conflict. The continuation of the flight to chicago was uneventful

Title: CAPT OF AN MLG OVERSHOT ASSIGNED ALT DURING ARR DSCNT TO A HOLDING PATTERN DUE TO TASK DISTR. HE CORRECTED BACK IMMEDIATELY AND WAS NOT ADVISED OF ANY CONFLICT.

COPLT WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET CURRENT ATIS AT ORD AND TALK TO DISPATCH ABOUT HOLD AND POSSIBLE DIVERT TO DSM. FLT ATTENDANT HAD COME TO COCKPIT TO BE INFORMED AND JUST GONE BACK TO CABIN. CAPT WAS FLYING SLOWING AND DSNDING TO ENTER HOLDING WHEN HE REALIZED HIS ALT WAS 14400 FT MSL AND THE CORRECTION BACK TO ALT ASSIGNED 15000 FT MSL WAS MADE IMMEDIATELY. THERE DID NOT SEEM TO BE ANY CONFLICT. THE CONTINUATION OF THE FLT TO CHICAGO WAS UNEVENTFUL
