Narrative:
On climb out from hwd, clipped class C airspace (oakland) at 1500 ft MSL. I thought I knew the landmarks quite well, but on the 'south' side of I580, the class C airspace extends further out. Hwd tower pointed out that we had just 'clipped' the airspace on our climb through 1500 ft. I felt that my incursion was due to a high workload of flight instructing a student's first cross country. I need to pay much closer attention to exactly where class C borders.
