Narrative:

Company deferred aircraft transponder and put aircraft back in service. MEL states with no transponder we cannot operate in classes a, B, and C airspace. Company got ok from zan watch supervisor to operate aircraft in class a and C airspace. After third day, they no longer allowed company to operate aircraft without a transponder. We should have not operated the aircraft. The MEL did not allow us to fly in class a and C airspace and it was. Center only saw a primary target and the controllers were less than enthusiastic dealing with us, although they made do.

Title: AN SA227 WAS OPERATED FOR A PERIOD OF 3 DAYS IN CLASS A AND C AIRSPACE WITH THE XPONDER INOP IN CONFLICT WITH THE MEL REQUIREMENTS.

Narrative: COMPANY DEFERRED ACFT XPONDER AND PUT ACFT BACK IN SVC. MEL STATES WITH NO XPONDER WE CANNOT OPERATE IN CLASSES A, B, AND C AIRSPACE. COMPANY GOT OK FROM ZAN WATCH SUPVR TO OPERATE ACFT IN CLASS A AND C AIRSPACE. AFTER THIRD DAY, THEY NO LONGER ALLOWED COMPANY TO OPERATE ACFT WITHOUT A XPONDER. WE SHOULD HAVE NOT OPERATED THE ACFT. THE MEL DID NOT ALLOW US TO FLY IN CLASS A AND C AIRSPACE AND IT WAS. CTR ONLY SAW A PRIMARY TARGET AND THE CTLRS WERE LESS THAN ENTHUSIASTIC DEALING WITH US, ALTHOUGH THEY MADE DO.
