Narrative:
On air carrier flight XXX from mci to yip on initial climb out, we climbed past our assigned altitude of 4000 ft MSL to 4300 ft MSL. We caught our error and were correcting when ATC questioned us about our assigned altitude. This occurrence was unintentional, inadvertent, not deliberate, and corrective action was taken as soon as possible.
