Narrative:
Captain advised flight attendants prior to landing he was shutting down an engine. He advised no need to prepare for a planned evacuate/evacuation. Captain advised this would be a 'normal' landing since B727 aircraft is very capable of flying on 2 engines. Captain did make a PA, telling the passenger of the situation. As flight attendants, we mentally ran through our evacuate/evacuation procedures, preparing for a worst case scenario. We landed without incident. Passenger very calm. Cockpit crew did an outstanding job keeping us informed of situation, which was the reason for the calm.
