Narrative:
Location: just north of the localizer for ILS runway 9 fll, 276 degree radial, 7 DME. Deviating slightly north of runway 9 localizer due to WX on localizer course to runway 9 fll. Approach gave us possible traffic ahead and to the right. Shortly thereafter TCASII RA to aircraft 300 ft below us and slightly to the right. We followed the TCASII RA to climb, which we did and saw the cessna pass just below and to the right. The problem with this scenario is that approach control gave us a turn towards the traffic which he either wasn't in contact with or did not know his altitude. We were descending to land on a vector to the airport to intercept the approach course. This was a dangerous setup and could have been catastrophic.

Title: FLC IN MD80 INBOUND TO FLL ON VECTOR FOR ILS RECEIVE TCASII RA, RESPOND AND OBSERVE A CESSNA FLY PAST.
Narrative: LOCATION: JUST N OF THE LOC FOR ILS RWY 9 FLL, 276 DEG RADIAL, 7 DME. DEVIATING SLIGHTLY N OF RWY 9 LOC DUE TO WX ON LOC COURSE TO RWY 9 FLL. APCH GAVE US POSSIBLE TFC AHEAD AND TO THE R. SHORTLY THEREAFTER TCASII RA TO ACFT 300 FT BELOW US AND SLIGHTLY TO THE R. WE FOLLOWED THE TCASII RA TO CLB, WHICH WE DID AND SAW THE CESSNA PASS JUST BELOW AND TO THE R. THE PROB WITH THIS SCENARIO IS THAT APCH CTL GAVE US A TURN TOWARDS THE TFC WHICH HE EITHER WASN'T IN CONTACT WITH OR DID NOT KNOW HIS ALT. WE WERE DSNDING TO LAND ON A VECTOR TO THE ARPT TO INTERCEPT THE APCH COURSE. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SETUP AND COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.
