Narrative:
A few mins after takeoff, there was a loud bang and a shudder from the left engine. I called the #1 flight attendant to make sure she heard it too, and to notify the cockpit in case they hadn't heard it. She told me that she told the cockpit who told her we would be landing back at dfw as soon as possible. We prepared the cabin for landing and landed without further incident. We were inspected by ground personnel on the ground before taxiing to the gate.
