Narrative:
Told to hold short runway 25L. We were at intersection P and started to cross runway 25R. Tower controller asked if we were holding short of runway 25R. We said negative, we were told to hold short of runway 25L. After crossing runway 25R, noticed commuter aircraft take off on runway 25R. Estimate he was airborne 6000-7000 ft prior to intersection P. I believe tower mistakenly told us to hold short of runway 25L, when he meant runway 25R. At all times we monitored operations on runway 25R and could see an light transport holding for takeoff on that runway. Apparently he was given takeoff clearance just as we started to cross runway 25R!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AS THE CAPT OF A DC10 WAS XING THE R PARALLEL RWY FOR THE L, A COMMUTER ACFT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON THE R.
Narrative: TOLD TO HOLD SHORT RWY 25L. WE WERE AT INTXN P AND STARTED TO CROSS RWY 25R. TWR CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 25R. WE SAID NEGATIVE, WE WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 25L. AFTER XING RWY 25R, NOTICED COMMUTER ACFT TAKE OFF ON RWY 25R. ESTIMATE HE WAS AIRBORNE 6000-7000 FT PRIOR TO INTXN P. I BELIEVE TWR MISTAKENLY TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 25L, WHEN HE MEANT RWY 25R. AT ALL TIMES WE MONITORED OPS ON RWY 25R AND COULD SEE AN LTT HOLDING FOR TKOF ON THAT RWY. APPARENTLY HE WAS GIVEN TKOF CLRNC JUST AS WE STARTED TO CROSS RWY 25R!
