Narrative:

Basic VFR conditions with slightly low visibility (3 mi). We told socal approach we could take a vector right to the OM (ILS runway 19R). The approach controller advised us that his vector would probably take us just inside the OM. We accepted that vector because we knew we would soon see the runway. At that time the approach controller handed us over to the tower controller. The captain and I found ourselves just a little busy configuring and adjusting the aircraft for this unexpected vector inside the OM. The aircraft was configured, all checklists complete for a stabilized approach and landing. Upon landing, we realized we had forgotten to switch over and notify the tower for our landing clearance.

Title: A B737-500 FLC LANDS WITHOUT CLRNC AT SNA, CA.

Narrative: BASIC VFR CONDITIONS WITH SLIGHTLY LOW VISIBILITY (3 MI). WE TOLD SOCAL APCH WE COULD TAKE A VECTOR RIGHT TO THE OM (ILS RWY 19R). THE APCH CTLR ADVISED US THAT HIS VECTOR WOULD PROBABLY TAKE US JUST INSIDE THE OM. WE ACCEPTED THAT VECTOR BECAUSE WE KNEW WE WOULD SOON SEE THE RWY. AT THAT TIME THE APCH CTLR HANDED US OVER TO THE TWR CTLR. THE CAPT AND I FOUND OURSELVES JUST A LITTLE BUSY CONFIGURING AND ADJUSTING THE ACFT FOR THIS UNEXPECTED VECTOR INSIDE THE OM. THE ACFT WAS CONFIGURED, ALL CHKLISTS COMPLETE FOR A STABILIZED APCH AND LNDG. UPON LNDG, WE REALIZED WE HAD FORGOTTEN TO SWITCH OVER AND NOTIFY THE TWR FOR OUR LNDG CLRNC.
