Narrative:

Upon landing at kansas city, after taxi into parking, found right outboard wheel assembly missing. Did not notice anything unusual during takeoff, landing or taxi in. Normal landing, nothing out of the ordinary. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a B727-200 and on arrival the so called the reporter to view the right main landing gear which had #4 wheel and tire assembly missing. The reporter said the flight was conducted uneventfully from takeoff to parking at mci with no noise, vibration or any indication of failure of any system or component. The reporter said information received from maintenance indicates the bearing and wheel hub failed but no more details were available. Supplemental information from acn 423667: was later notified that wheel and tire were found in a ditch off the runway at boise.

Title: A B727-200 FOUND ON ARR AT MCI #4 WHEEL ASSEMBLY MISSING CAUSED BY BEARING AND WHEEL HUB FAILURE.

Narrative: UPON LNDG AT KANSAS CITY, AFTER TAXI INTO PARKING, FOUND R OUTBOARD WHEEL ASSEMBLY MISSING. DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING UNUSUAL DURING TKOF, LNDG OR TAXI IN. NORMAL LNDG, NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS A B727-200 AND ON ARR THE SO CALLED THE RPTR TO VIEW THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR WHICH HAD #4 WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY MISSING. THE RPTR SAID THE FLT WAS CONDUCTED UNEVENTFULLY FROM TKOF TO PARKING AT MCI WITH NO NOISE, VIBRATION OR ANY INDICATION OF FAILURE OF ANY SYS OR COMPONENT. THE RPTR SAID INFO RECEIVED FROM MAINT INDICATES THE BEARING AND WHEEL HUB FAILED BUT NO MORE DETAILS WERE AVAILABLE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 423667: WAS LATER NOTIFIED THAT WHEEL AND TIRE WERE FOUND IN A DITCH OFF THE RWY AT BOISE.
