Narrative:
I was on an instrument training flight in VMC in a C172 with a student and was inbound from the procedure turn on the bzn VOR 12 approach. About 2 mi from the airport, bzn tower advised he had an air carrier Y B727 ready for departure on runway 30 and advised by tower to terminate the approach. I acknowledged this and requested a right climbing turn outbound to manni (IAF) for executing the ILS runway 12 approach. This was approved by tower with the instruction to maintain visual separation with the air carrier Y flight and was cautioned of wake turbulence of the B727. Since the air carrier Y departed on runway 30 and was outbound on what I presumed to be the 298 degree radial, I flew parallel to the 298 degree radial an estimated 1 mi to the northwest. I had visual on the air carrier Y flight at all times until he turned left and crossed behind and below me apparently turning on course. Air carrier Y then called bzn tower and complained that I had not maintained visual separation. The air carrier Y pilot needs to review far 91.113 (B) and (F).

Title: NMAC BTWN A C172 IN LEVEL FT OUTBOUND PARALLEL TO THE INBOUND ILS APCH AND A B727 CLBING OUT AFTER TKOF AND TURNING BELOW AND BEHIND THE C172.
Narrative: I WAS ON AN INST TRAINING FLT IN VMC IN A C172 WITH A STUDENT AND WAS INBOUND FROM THE PROC TURN ON THE BZN VOR 12 APCH. ABOUT 2 MI FROM THE ARPT, BZN TWR ADVISED HE HAD AN ACR Y B727 READY FOR DEP ON RWY 30 AND ADVISED BY TWR TO TERMINATE THE APCH. I ACKNOWLEDGED THIS AND REQUESTED A R CLBING TURN OUTBOUND TO MANNI (IAF) FOR EXECUTING THE ILS RWY 12 APCH. THIS WAS APPROVED BY TWR WITH THE INSTRUCTION TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH THE ACR Y FLT AND WAS CAUTIONED OF WAKE TURB OF THE B727. SINCE THE ACR Y DEPARTED ON RWY 30 AND WAS OUTBOUND ON WHAT I PRESUMED TO BE THE 298 DEG RADIAL, I FLEW PARALLEL TO THE 298 DEG RADIAL AN ESTIMATED 1 MI TO THE NW. I HAD VISUAL ON THE ACR Y FLT AT ALL TIMES UNTIL HE TURNED L AND CROSSED BEHIND AND BELOW ME APPARENTLY TURNING ON COURSE. ACR Y THEN CALLED BZN TWR AND COMPLAINED THAT I HAD NOT MAINTAINED VISUAL SEPARATION. THE ACR Y PLT NEEDS TO REVIEW FAR 91.113 (B) AND (F).
