Narrative:
We had a yellow leading edge flap transit light in tucson that we finally fixed by doing a flaps 15 degree takeoff. As we were approaching las, we were concerned about the light, and began to discuss it as approach called out traffic we were to follow. We visually acquired the aircraft, and approach asked us to maintain visual. At this time my first officer asked me if we should lower flaps to see if the light would stay yellow. A discussion ensued until I finally asked for flaps 1 degree and 5 degrees. At this time approach sent us to tower, later than usual, about a 6 mi final. The first officer tuned in tower frequency, but failed to switch the lever. We both became preoccupied with the flaps, and I with flying the aircraft and visually following the aircraft in front of me. I landed and realized we were not in contact with tower.

Title: FLC LANDS AT LAS WITHOUT CLRNC.

AT THIS TIME APCH SENT US TO TWR, LATER THAN USUAL, ABOUT A 6 MI FINAL. THE FO TUNED IN TWR FREQ, BUT FAILED TO SWITCH THE LEVER. WE BOTH BECAME PREOCCUPIED WITH THE FLAPS, AND I WITH FLYING THE ACFT AND VISUALLY FOLLOWING THE ACFT IN FRONT OF ME. I LANDED AND REALIZED WE WERE NOT IN CONTACT WITH TWR.
