Narrative:
Apr/xa/99, aircraft #xyz had a lightning strike. An inspection was done and damage was found. In accordance with DC10 srm and DC10 maintenance manual, maintenance was put on monitor and to be accomplished at 25 flight hours after apr/xz/99. It was not and engineering, maintenance control, monitor records lost the engineering authority/authorized for this monitor. Now it is brought to my attention that it's my fault that the 25 hour flight limit was overflown. The damage was documented in accordance with maintenance manual and proper people notified. This is an engineering, maintenance control, monitor records mishap -- not my own. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the copy of the engineering authority/authorized was supplied by the engineer who wrote the document. The reporter said the ZZZ station manager confronted the maintenance records people and proved the error belonged to their department. The reporter said he was absolved of all blame for the time oversight.
