Narrative:
Night, VFR, VOR DME runway 5L/right. Approach after tepas 1 arrival transition to mex (a busy procedure). Checklist was completed for landing and normal touchdown and rollout. When control of aircraft was switched for taxi off runway, approach control called and requested we change to tower frequency. It was now obvious we landed without clearance. Recommend the last item on mechanical checklist (annunciator lights) be 'held' until landing clearance received. As a checklist item, landing clearance can better be confirmed.

Title: MD80 FLC LANDS AT MEX WITHOUT CHANGING TO TWR FREQ AND RECEIVING LNDG CLRNC.
Narrative: NIGHT, VFR, VOR DME RWY 5L/R. APCH AFTER TEPAS 1 ARR TRANSITION TO MEX (A BUSY PROC). CHKLIST WAS COMPLETED FOR LNDG AND NORMAL TOUCHDOWN AND ROLLOUT. WHEN CTL OF ACFT WAS SWITCHED FOR TAXI OFF RWY, APCH CTL CALLED AND REQUESTED WE CHANGE TO TWR FREQ. IT WAS NOW OBVIOUS WE LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC. RECOMMEND THE LAST ITEM ON MECHANICAL CHKLIST (ANNUNCIATOR LIGHTS) BE 'HELD' UNTIL LNDG CLRNC RECEIVED. AS A CHKLIST ITEM, LNDG CLRNC CAN BETTER BE CONFIRMED.
