Narrative:

After landing, I had thought that tower cleared me to taxi on his frequency. I thought that it was unusual at dvt, so as I taxied, I asked tower to confirm that I should taxi on his frequency and he said 'no, contact ground.' I continued straight ahead on the taxiway that I had turned off on from the runway and went ahead and called ground. Ground then asked me to state my position and I told him 'clear of the runway on taxiway B5.' he then told me in a very stern voice to 'taxi to the ramp.' I asked him if I had made a mistake and he was very cross with me for taxiing as far as I did before contacting him. I apologized and thanked him for his advice and assistance. Next time I will clear the runway and stop and call ground immediately! As a side note: controllers at dvt are very stressed and work very hard, long days. At XA00 they are exhausted and very intolerant of pilot errors.

Title: PLT OF A C150 FAILED TO STOP AFTER LNDG FOR TAXI CLRNC FROM GND CTL.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG, I HAD THOUGHT THAT TWR CLRED ME TO TAXI ON HIS FREQ. I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS UNUSUAL AT DVT, SO AS I TAXIED, I ASKED TWR TO CONFIRM THAT I SHOULD TAXI ON HIS FREQ AND HE SAID 'NO, CONTACT GND.' I CONTINUED STRAIGHT AHEAD ON THE TXWY THAT I HAD TURNED OFF ON FROM THE RWY AND WENT AHEAD AND CALLED GND. GND THEN ASKED ME TO STATE MY POS AND I TOLD HIM 'CLR OF THE RWY ON TXWY B5.' HE THEN TOLD ME IN A VERY STERN VOICE TO 'TAXI TO THE RAMP.' I ASKED HIM IF I HAD MADE A MISTAKE AND HE WAS VERY CROSS WITH ME FOR TAXIING AS FAR AS I DID BEFORE CONTACTING HIM. I APOLOGIZED AND THANKED HIM FOR HIS ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE. NEXT TIME I WILL CLR THE RWY AND STOP AND CALL GND IMMEDIATELY! AS A SIDE NOTE: CTLRS AT DVT ARE VERY STRESSED AND WORK VERY HARD, LONG DAYS. AT XA00 THEY ARE EXHAUSTED AND VERY INTOLERANT OF PLT ERRORS.
