Narrative:

On jun/xa/99 prior to our initial departure from bos airport, I reviewed the aircraft logbook and maintenance release document. There were no problems noted by bos maintenance. I then accomplished my exterior inspection using a flashlight for the early dawn walkaround. The inspection was completed with nothing unusual noted about the left outboard aileron. After flying an uneventful 1 hour flight with no severe WX, we landed at washington dulles. The captain and I proceeded to operations. At that time, washington maintenance noticed on their standard arrival inspection that a lightning strike had occurred on the top of the left outboard aileron. Neither myself nor boston maintenance noticed any damage during our ground inspection prior to departure. The captain and I were uncertain that we were hit by lightning because we did not encounter any severe WX en route.
