Problem Areas | Aircraft Company Passenger Human Performance |
Primary Problem | Passenger Human Performance |
Narrative:
The passenger sitting in row XXX began complaining to flight attendant #7 in regards to his seat being smaller than every body else's in business class. (This was during lunch service.) he measured several seats with this cloth napkin. Then he came up to the purser in first class and started getting angrier. I happened to be standing next to the #1 flight attendant. He called me and the #1 flight attendant 'a liar.' then the captain came out, because this passenger would not go back to his seat. He was screaming at us. I went to get a seat cushion to show him that the seats were the same. He still was not convinced. The captain said 'the fasten seatbelt sign is on, go and please take your seat.' he finally did! The passenger had been drinking during the flight, so we think maybe it was an alcohol induced behavior. It did not make much sense that someone would get so upset over a seat, unless he has personal problems, and is letting it out at FL330, or that alcohol affects him that way. I did not serve him, but his breath indicated alcohol. That is all I know.

Title: FLT ATTENDANT RPT, B767-300, LAX-JFK, IRATE AND VERBALLY ABUSIVE PAX UP DURING FASTEN SEATBELT SIGN. CAPT INTERVENED.
Narrative: THE PAX SITTING IN ROW XXX BEGAN COMPLAINING TO FLT ATTENDANT #7 IN REGARDS TO HIS SEAT BEING SMALLER THAN EVERY BODY ELSE'S IN BUSINESS CLASS. (THIS WAS DURING LUNCH SVC.) HE MEASURED SEVERAL SEATS WITH THIS CLOTH NAPKIN. THEN HE CAME UP TO THE PURSER IN FIRST CLASS AND STARTED GETTING ANGRIER. I HAPPENED TO BE STANDING NEXT TO THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT. HE CALLED ME AND THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT 'A LIAR.' THEN THE CAPT CAME OUT, BECAUSE THIS PAX WOULD NOT GO BACK TO HIS SEAT. HE WAS SCREAMING AT US. I WENT TO GET A SEAT CUSHION TO SHOW HIM THAT THE SEATS WERE THE SAME. HE STILL WAS NOT CONVINCED. THE CAPT SAID 'THE FASTEN SEATBELT SIGN IS ON, GO AND PLEASE TAKE YOUR SEAT.' HE FINALLY DID! THE PAX HAD BEEN DRINKING DURING THE FLT, SO WE THINK MAYBE IT WAS AN ALCOHOL INDUCED BEHAVIOR. IT DID NOT MAKE MUCH SENSE THAT SOMEONE WOULD GET SO UPSET OVER A SEAT, UNLESS HE HAS PERSONAL PROBS, AND IS LETTING IT OUT AT FL330, OR THAT ALCOHOL AFFECTS HIM THAT WAY. I DID NOT SERVE HIM, BUT HIS BREATH INDICATED ALCOHOL. THAT IS ALL I KNOW.
