Narrative:
WX deviation. Approaching downt, a line of thunderstorms was directly on the airway (A300). Requested deviation to west up to 50 mi. ATC said they were unable due to traffic behind us on same route at FL350. We began to deviate west of course and ATC came back and gave us the clearance to deviate as requested. We deviated west approximately 30 mi and then returned to course.

Title: B757 CREW WAS REQUIRED TO USE EMER AUTH TO AVOID CONVECTIVE WX.
Narrative: WX DEV. APCHING DOWNT, A LINE OF TSTMS WAS DIRECTLY ON THE AIRWAY (A300). REQUESTED DEV TO W UP TO 50 MI. ATC SAID THEY WERE UNABLE DUE TO TFC BEHIND US ON SAME RTE AT FL350. WE BEGAN TO DEVIATE W OF COURSE AND ATC CAME BACK AND GAVE US THE CLRNC TO DEVIATE AS REQUESTED. WE DEVIATED W APPROX 30 MI AND THEN RETURNED TO COURSE.
