Narrative:
While cruising at FL270, center gave us a crossing, cofax intersection at FL250. Captain inserted FL250 in the MCP while I confirmed according to our altitude awareness program. The FMC was already programmed for the crossing and the autoplt in LNAV and VNAV. Then center gave us a new speed, and the captain chose manual, taking the autoplt out of VNAV and monitored the descent page in the FMC. Prior to the top of descent, a call from the flight attendant was received. While a discussion of their request was taking place, we passed the top of descent. Center called and asked if he had given us a crossing level FL250 at cofax. We had already began a maximum descent and crossed cofax 850 ft high. We inquired as to any conflict and advised level FL250. He replied no conflict and gave us a frequency change.

Title: B737 CREW DID NOT MAKE XING RESTR NEAR PIT.
Narrative: WHILE CRUISING AT FL270, CTR GAVE US A XING, COFAX INTXN AT FL250. CAPT INSERTED FL250 IN THE MCP WHILE I CONFIRMED ACCORDING TO OUR ALT AWARENESS PROGRAM. THE FMC WAS ALREADY PROGRAMMED FOR THE XING AND THE AUTOPLT IN LNAV AND VNAV. THEN CTR GAVE US A NEW SPD, AND THE CAPT CHOSE MANUAL, TAKING THE AUTOPLT OUT OF VNAV AND MONITORED THE DSCNT PAGE IN THE FMC. PRIOR TO THE TOP OF DSCNT, A CALL FROM THE FLT ATTENDANT WAS RECEIVED. WHILE A DISCUSSION OF THEIR REQUEST WAS TAKING PLACE, WE PASSED THE TOP OF DSCNT. CTR CALLED AND ASKED IF HE HAD GIVEN US A XING LEVEL FL250 AT COFAX. WE HAD ALREADY BEGAN A MAX DSCNT AND CROSSED COFAX 850 FT HIGH. WE INQUIRED AS TO ANY CONFLICT AND ADVISED LEVEL FL250. HE REPLIED NO CONFLICT AND GAVE US A FREQ CHANGE.
