Narrative:
Taxiing to park at pvd on the night of aug/xa/99, everything appeared normal. The gate area was clear. The marshaller and 2 wing walkers with lighted wands were in position to provide guidance. As I approached the stop mark (the marshaller wands were about a foot apart), I felt something bump the aircraft. We stopped. The next moment our marshaller walked out of view of the cockpit. Shortly after that the jetway started to move. I made a gesture to the jetway agent for assistance. A few moments later a different ramp agent appeared and gave the parked and chocks in signal. The top of the left engine cowl hit the jetway putting a hole in it. The aircraft position was in the middle of the lead in line and just inches short of the B737 stop/park mark. No ground personnel were injured and passenger deplaned normally.
