Narrative:
During shutdown of the aircraft at the gate, there was some confusion at the gate. During this time the #2 engine was left running for a short time at the gate when another crew member from another aircraft shut down the engine. There was no damage to the aircraft, personnel or equipment. The parking area in cvg is very loud with another aircraft APU right in our face, which contributed to not hearing the engine.
