Narrative:
The ELT on my aircraft activated for reasons neither I nor the folks who did my annual inspection understand at this time. The local FAA technician turned it off and attached the 'ticket' which is pre-typed and pre-signed by the FSDO chief. Apparently the local FAA technician wanted me to know that he turned off the ELT. He never intended me to call the district office! I recommend that the FAA be more precise in their paperwork!
