Narrative:
We landed runway 9R at phl and were instructed to turn off at taxiway S3 and taxi via taxiway south, taxiway M...hold short of runway 9 and remain on tower frequency. The captain called for the after landing checklist. After completing the checklist and being distraction by the APU's failure to start, I looked up and asked if that was runway 9L we were approaching. It was difficult to identify, but I had not seen the hold short line and there were white lights instead of blue. I had heard tower clear a cargo carrier for takeoff on runway 9L and since I wasn't sure of our position, I asked the captain to stop the aircraft. He was already in the process of braking and we stopped. The cargo aircraft rotated prior to us and lifted off. He called the tower to tell them we were very close on his right side and he didn't 'appreciate' it. My captain stated on tower frequency that we were clear of the runway and said the tower could send someone out to verify our position if they wished. The tower stated we appeared clear. I don't know if he was using ground radar or his eyes. He then cleared us to cross runway 9L and taxi to parking. Our aircraft was clear of the right edge of runway 9L but we were past the hold line (I didn't see the line but I'm assuming there was one). We had began our day on the west coast, so fatigue as well as the darkness were factors in our missing the hold line.

Title: CAPT OF AN MD82 DURING NIGHT TAXI TO PARKING AFTER LNDG HELD SHORT OF RWY, BUT PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE RESULTING IN A 4 ENG CARGO ACFT FLC TO COMMENT THAT THE RPTR'S ACFT WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE RWY DURING THEIR TKOF.
Narrative: WE LANDED RWY 9R AT PHL AND WERE INSTRUCTED TO TURN OFF AT TXWY S3 AND TAXI VIA TXWY S, TXWY M...HOLD SHORT OF RWY 9 AND REMAIN ON TWR FREQ. THE CAPT CALLED FOR THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST. AFTER COMPLETING THE CHKLIST AND BEING DISTR BY THE APU'S FAILURE TO START, I LOOKED UP AND ASKED IF THAT WAS RWY 9L WE WERE APCHING. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO IDENT, BUT I HAD NOT SEEN THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND THERE WERE WHITE LIGHTS INSTEAD OF BLUE. I HAD HEARD TWR CLR A CARGO CARRIER FOR TKOF ON RWY 9L AND SINCE I WASN'T SURE OF OUR POS, I ASKED THE CAPT TO STOP THE ACFT. HE WAS ALREADY IN THE PROCESS OF BRAKING AND WE STOPPED. THE CARGO ACFT ROTATED PRIOR TO US AND LIFTED OFF. HE CALLED THE TWR TO TELL THEM WE WERE VERY CLOSE ON HIS R SIDE AND HE DIDN'T 'APPRECIATE' IT. MY CAPT STATED ON TWR FREQ THAT WE WERE CLR OF THE RWY AND SAID THE TWR COULD SEND SOMEONE OUT TO VERIFY OUR POS IF THEY WISHED. THE TWR STATED WE APPEARED CLR. I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS USING GND RADAR OR HIS EYES. HE THEN CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 9L AND TAXI TO PARKING. OUR ACFT WAS CLR OF THE R EDGE OF RWY 9L BUT WE WERE PAST THE HOLD LINE (I DIDN'T SEE THE LINE BUT I'M ASSUMING THERE WAS ONE). WE HAD BEGAN OUR DAY ON THE WEST COAST, SO FATIGUE AS WELL AS THE DARKNESS WERE FACTORS IN OUR MISSING THE HOLD LINE.
