Narrative:
During descent into bos at approximately FL270, the first officer and I first noticed an electric power interruption. Then checking engine instruments, discovered the right engine had flamed out. Power was at idle for the descent, no yaw was felt. I directed the first officer to continue to fly the aircraft while I ran the QRH procedure for engine failure/shutdown. Upon completing this task we both agreed an in-flight start was appropriate. During this time (approximately 4-5 mins), I had declared an emergency with ZNY and subsequently was working with ZBW. A possible diversion to pvd was discussed with first officer and ZBW. Flight attendants were notified and told to prepare for an earlier landing. The in-flight start was successful and the checklist completed, reconfiguring the aircraft for a normal. 2 engine approach and landing. We notified ATC that normal operations were restored, and that a bos landing would be made since the emergency no longer existed. Landing was uneventful on runway 4R at bos.

Title: B757-200 R ENG FLAMEOUT ON INITIAL DSCNT INTO BOS.
Narrative: DURING DSCNT INTO BOS AT APPROX FL270, THE FO AND I FIRST NOTICED AN ELECTRIC PWR INTERRUPTION. THEN CHKING ENG INSTS, DISCOVERED THE R ENG HAD FLAMED OUT. PWR WAS AT IDLE FOR THE DSCNT, NO YAW WAS FELT. I DIRECTED THE FO TO CONTINUE TO FLY THE ACFT WHILE I RAN THE QRH PROC FOR ENG FAILURE/SHUTDOWN. UPON COMPLETING THIS TASK WE BOTH AGREED AN INFLT START WAS APPROPRIATE. DURING THIS TIME (APPROX 4-5 MINS), I HAD DECLARED AN EMER WITH ZNY AND SUBSEQUENTLY WAS WORKING WITH ZBW. A POSSIBLE DIVERSION TO PVD WAS DISCUSSED WITH FO AND ZBW. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE NOTIFIED AND TOLD TO PREPARE FOR AN EARLIER LNDG. THE INFLT START WAS SUCCESSFUL AND THE CHKLIST COMPLETED, RECONFIGURING THE ACFT FOR A NORMAL. 2 ENG APCH AND LNDG. WE NOTIFIED ATC THAT NORMAL OPS WERE RESTORED, AND THAT A BOS LNDG WOULD BE MADE SINCE THE EMER NO LONGER EXISTED. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL ON RWY 4R AT BOS.
