Narrative:
Coming in from southeast practice area, I was cleared by tower for a straight-in 2 mi final. A C310 was cleared to approach and report entering a 2 mi base to final. At 2 mi, I called tower and reported a 2 mi final. I was then told to immediately turn left and exit pattern. Before I could turn, the C310 turned base to final right above and in front of me. Bad because I was in high wing and C310 a low wing. I advised tower the plane missed me by about 10 ft. C310 was my boss at flight school and he said he never saw me except for my shadow on ground. He thought he was way ahead because he was in a twin and faster. What can be done is for the tower to be aware of all traffic entering the pattern. We are a VFR only airport. However, they should still provide TA's. It is our responsibility to see and avoid, but many other close incidents have occurred on a weekly basis since this incident. I have demanded TA's if traffic is not in sight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A C150 CFI RPT ON AN NMAC WITH A C310. RPTR ALLEGES THAT THE TWR CTLR IS REMISS IN HIS DUTIES REGARDING TA'S AND SPACING IN THE TFC PATTERN PROC AT GEU, AZ.
Narrative: COMING IN FROM SE PRACTICE AREA, I WAS CLRED BY TWR FOR A STRAIGHT-IN 2 MI FINAL. A C310 WAS CLRED TO APCH AND RPT ENTERING A 2 MI BASE TO FINAL. AT 2 MI, I CALLED TWR AND RPTED A 2 MI FINAL. I WAS THEN TOLD TO IMMEDIATELY TURN L AND EXIT PATTERN. BEFORE I COULD TURN, THE C310 TURNED BASE TO FINAL RIGHT ABOVE AND IN FRONT OF ME. BAD BECAUSE I WAS IN HIGH WING AND C310 A LOW WING. I ADVISED TWR THE PLANE MISSED ME BY ABOUT 10 FT. C310 WAS MY BOSS AT FLT SCHOOL AND HE SAID HE NEVER SAW ME EXCEPT FOR MY SHADOW ON GND. HE THOUGHT HE WAS WAY AHEAD BECAUSE HE WAS IN A TWIN AND FASTER. WHAT CAN BE DONE IS FOR THE TWR TO BE AWARE OF ALL TFC ENTERING THE PATTERN. WE ARE A VFR ONLY ARPT. HOWEVER, THEY SHOULD STILL PROVIDE TA'S. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE AND AVOID, BUT MANY OTHER CLOSE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED ON A WKLY BASIS SINCE THIS INCIDENT. I HAVE DEMANDED TA'S IF TFC IS NOT IN SIGHT.
