Narrative:
It was a beautiful day after 22 rainy days. I went out to enjoy the sun and upon return, I decided to make a straight-in approach instead of full pattern to land at our private strip. I did before landing checklist for C172N. It doesn't say 'flaps' and because of lack of normal pattern procedure, I landed with only 20 degrees of flaps. I was wondering why speed did not decrease. I floated and did long touchdown. I immediately applied brakes but could not stop in the remaining runway. I ran off the runway and airplane sustained light damage. I was not injured at all. Factors: 'before landing checklist' did not say 'flaps,' so I forgot to put full flaps down. I did not fly full pattern, so I overlooked flaps. I could not understand why I was floating. I could have and should have gone around, but somehow I didn't. Because it was a beautiful day, I was not mentally alert.

Title: PVT PLT OF A C172 RAN OFF THE END OF THE RWY DURING LNDG CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.
Narrative: IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY AFTER 22 RAINY DAYS. I WENT OUT TO ENJOY THE SUN AND UPON RETURN, I DECIDED TO MAKE A STRAIGHT-IN APCH INSTEAD OF FULL PATTERN TO LAND AT OUR PVT STRIP. I DID BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST FOR C172N. IT DOESN'T SAY 'FLAPS' AND BECAUSE OF LACK OF NORMAL PATTERN PROC, I LANDED WITH ONLY 20 DEGS OF FLAPS. I WAS WONDERING WHY SPD DID NOT DECREASE. I FLOATED AND DID LONG TOUCHDOWN. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED BRAKES BUT COULD NOT STOP IN THE REMAINING RWY. I RAN OFF THE RWY AND AIRPLANE SUSTAINED LIGHT DAMAGE. I WAS NOT INJURED AT ALL. FACTORS: 'BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST' DID NOT SAY 'FLAPS,' SO I FORGOT TO PUT FULL FLAPS DOWN.
