After takeoff from mem, upon raising the flaps from 15 degrees to 5 degrees, had a loss of system 'a' hydraulic. Stayed in contact with mem departure. Ran checklist for total hydraulic loss system 'a.' during lowering the flaps via the alternate system, got a leading edge flap asymmetric on starboard leading edge flap. Ran the checklist for that emergency. Made a flaps 15 degree visual approach to runway 18R at mem. No further problems.
