Narrative:
On jan/sat/00, aircraft xyz had a log item on a gear light. Inadvertently and erroneously I placarded the left gear door light on MEL and followed procedures outlined on the maintenance manual. This was not a deliberate act or disregard for safety. I truly was under the impression that the problem was with the gear door light instead of the gear light which is not placardable.
