ZHU said 'good rate through 11000 ft, traffic on TCASII appears too close at 10000 ft.' asked about traffic. Center said not to worry, traffic had us in sight. Before I could say 'that's not good enough, tell me exactly where he is,' RA 'descend, descend.' center said 'keep climbing,' not to descend into traffic. Houston has been too lax on visual traffic in past. I was waiting for metal to hit.

Narrative: ZHU SAID 'GOOD RATE THROUGH 11000 FT, TFC ON TCASII APPEARS TOO CLOSE AT 10000 FT.' ASKED ABOUT TFC. CTR SAID NOT TO WORRY, TFC HAD US IN SIGHT. BEFORE I COULD SAY 'THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH, TELL ME EXACTLY WHERE HE IS,' RA 'DSND, DSND.' CTR SAID 'KEEP CLBING,' NOT TO DSND INTO TFC. HOUSTON HAS BEEN TOO LAX ON VISUAL TFC IN PAST. I WAS WAITING FOR METAL TO HIT.
