Narrative:
Normal landing runway 28. Turned right on taxiway F, went to inner taxiway. Ground said 'make 180 degree back on taxiway P, continue around to terminal X.' at taxiway P and taxiway P1 intersection, taxiway signs confusing after full day. When I saw I was approaching runway 22/4, I turned 180 degrees back on taxiway P and turned to gate. We had asked tower for progressive. First officer and I both had charts out on landing for taxi. We both missed it and also signs (arrows) are in confusing position at this particular intersection. Since many friends I have talked with have had similar experiences there, flashers are needed.
