Narrative:
During taxi out on taxiway B, aircraft developed a maintenance problem requiring radio contact with maintenance. First officer was talking to maintenance on second radio working heads down during taxi. Captain inadvertently taxied past intersection M on taxiway B and was unable to turn back toward the end of runway 1L (intersection M). Continued taxi to runway 1R while notifying ATC of deviation. Held short of runway 1R and eventually taxied back to gate. Next time we will stop taxi, deal with the problem, taxi again when both crew members are heads up.
