Narrative:
We contacted mem ground control at spot xx for taxi in mem. Ground cleared us to runway 18L via txwys J, D and C. My first officer read this back. We could see taxiway J on the 10-9 and txwys D and C appeared partially closed due to construction. We checked the 10-8 (yellow template) page, it showed txwys D and C as open abeam runway 18L going north on taxiway J. (Taxiing in mem with all of the construction is like going through a 'RAT maze' at best.) we taxied north on taxiway J and we noticed small cargo aircraft parked off to the side of taxiway J between taxiway K and on turn at txwys C and D. As we were passing taxiway K, ground control tried to get us to turn onto taxiway K, however we were already past the turn. We were allowed to continue as previously cleared to runway 18L. I guess at night they don't use taxiway J from taxiway K to txwys C and D because of the cargo operations going on nearby. It was a saturday night so none were underway. I did not discuss the ground controller's clearance after he tried to turn us onto taxiway K as he was fairly busy and other aircraft were having difficulty with the numerous taxiway closures. We had 4 aircraft going to the same runway via 4 different rtes. Mem is like a maze due to the construction, especially at night.

Title: AN A320 PIC'S RPT ON TAXI CONFUSION AT NIGHT AT MEM WHERE THE ARPT CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY TURNS THE TAXI OP INTO A 'MAZE.'
Narrative: WE CONTACTED MEM GND CTL AT SPOT XX FOR TAXI IN MEM. GND CLRED US TO RWY 18L VIA TXWYS J, D AND C. MY FO READ THIS BACK. WE COULD SEE TXWY J ON THE 10-9 AND TXWYS D AND C APPEARED PARTIALLY CLOSED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. WE CHKED THE 10-8 (YELLOW TEMPLATE) PAGE, IT SHOWED TXWYS D AND C AS OPEN ABEAM RWY 18L GOING N ON TXWY J. (TAXIING IN MEM WITH ALL OF THE CONSTRUCTION IS LIKE GOING THROUGH A 'RAT MAZE' AT BEST.) WE TAXIED N ON TXWY J AND WE NOTICED SMALL CARGO ACFT PARKED OFF TO THE SIDE OF TXWY J BTWN TXWY K AND ON TURN AT TXWYS C AND D. AS WE WERE PASSING TXWY K, GND CTL TRIED TO GET US TO TURN ONTO TXWY K, HOWEVER WE WERE ALREADY PAST THE TURN. WE WERE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE AS PREVIOUSLY CLRED TO RWY 18L. I GUESS AT NIGHT THEY DON'T USE TXWY J FROM TXWY K TO TXWYS C AND D BECAUSE OF THE CARGO OPS GOING ON NEARBY. IT WAS A SATURDAY NIGHT SO NONE WERE UNDERWAY. I DID NOT DISCUSS THE GND CTLR'S CLRNC AFTER HE TRIED TO TURN US ONTO TXWY K AS HE WAS FAIRLY BUSY AND OTHER ACFT WERE HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH THE NUMEROUS TXWY CLOSURES. WE HAD 4 ACFT GOING TO THE SAME RWY VIA 4 DIFFERENT RTES. MEM IS LIKE A MAZE DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.
