Narrative:
Due to confusion regarding far 121.485 neither my company nor myself recognized the possible violation until after the fact. My schedule for the last week in may was being changed on a regular basis, otherwise I would have been more cognizant of the duty/rest cycle. In the future, not only will I practice heighten awareness of monthly schedule bids, but also those last min changes. I have flown part 91, 135, and 121 over the past 9 yrs. Those regulations were complex. Part 121, with additional sub-categories of supplemental, domestic, and flag -- (coupled with whether one is flying as a 2 person crew, or as a 2 person crew with an additional 2 flight crew members) makes this a greater threat to being legal. The far's needs to come into compliance with modern day aircraft, operations, and medical findings regarding rest.

Title: B747 FO HAD FLT TIME, DUTY TIME, REST VIOLATION.
Narrative: DUE TO CONFUSION REGARDING FAR 121.485 NEITHER MY COMPANY NOR MYSELF RECOGNIZED THE POSSIBLE VIOLATION UNTIL AFTER THE FACT. MY SCHEDULE FOR THE LAST WK IN MAY WAS BEING CHANGED ON A REGULAR BASIS, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE COGNIZANT OF THE DUTY/REST CYCLE. IN THE FUTURE, NOT ONLY WILL I PRACTICE HEIGHTEN AWARENESS OF MONTHLY SCHEDULE BIDS, BUT ALSO THOSE LAST MIN CHANGES. I HAVE FLOWN PART 91, 135, AND 121 OVER THE PAST 9 YRS. THOSE REGS WERE COMPLEX. PART 121, WITH ADDITIONAL SUB-CATEGORIES OF SUPPLEMENTAL, DOMESTIC, AND FLAG -- (COUPLED WITH WHETHER ONE IS FLYING AS A 2 PERSON CREW, OR AS A 2 PERSON CREW WITH AN ADDITIONAL 2 FLC MEMBERS) MAKES THIS A GREATER THREAT TO BEING LEGAL. THE FAR'S NEEDS TO COME INTO COMPLIANCE WITH MODERN DAY ACFT, OPS, AND MEDICAL FINDINGS REGARDING REST.
