Narrative:
When doing a 180 degree turn on the runway in bom we heard a loud noise. At that time we had been going over a rough part of the runway and the centerline lights. We discussed this and agreed this is what caused the noise. Flight attendants then notified us they heard a noise and smelled a tire smell. We then discussed it and thought the smell was from the heavy weight maneuvering and that we were on the landing zone of the runway. We then told the flight attendants what we thought the noise was. All checklists were completed and we took off. Takeoff was normal and aircraft clean when flight attendants in the back said there was a problem. I checked problem and then we did appropriate checklists and abnormal procedures and dumped fuel to return to bom. Uneventful return and landing. I feel we could have been more assertive in getting more information from flight attendants and maybe flight attendants being more assertive with me. A question to ask after an interphone conversation should be 'do you feel comfortable taking off.'

Title: AN ACR HAS STRANGE NOISE AND RUBBER SMELL DURING TAXI THAT IS APPARENTLY NOT A PROB BUT DUMPS FUEL AND RETURNS TO LAND WHEN FLT ATTENDANT RPTS A PROB AFTER TKOF.
Narrative: WHEN DOING A 180 DEG TURN ON THE RWY IN BOM WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. AT THAT TIME WE HAD BEEN GOING OVER A ROUGH PART OF THE RWY AND THE CTRLINE LIGHTS. WE DISCUSSED THIS AND AGREED THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE NOISE. FLT ATTENDANTS THEN NOTIFIED US THEY HEARD A NOISE AND SMELLED A TIRE SMELL. WE THEN DISCUSSED IT AND THOUGHT THE SMELL WAS FROM THE HVY WT MANEUVERING AND THAT WE WERE ON THE LNDG ZONE OF THE RWY. WE THEN TOLD THE FLT ATTENDANTS WHAT WE THOUGHT THE NOISE WAS. ALL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETED AND WE TOOK OFF. TKOF WAS NORMAL AND ACFT CLEAN WHEN FLT ATTENDANTS IN THE BACK SAID THERE WAS A PROB. I CHKED PROB AND THEN WE DID APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS AND ABNORMAL PROCS AND DUMPED FUEL TO RETURN TO BOM. UNEVENTFUL RETURN AND LNDG. I FEEL WE COULD HAVE BEEN MORE ASSERTIVE IN GETTING MORE INFO FROM FLT ATTENDANTS AND MAYBE FLT ATTENDANTS BEING MORE ASSERTIVE WITH ME. A QUESTION TO ASK AFTER AN INTERPHONE CONVERSATION SHOULD BE 'DO YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING OFF.'
