Narrative:

In descent for sju, we heard and read back crossing at 10000 ft and 250 KTS. When level at 10000 ft, controller told us the crossing was at 11000 ft. We climbed back to 11000 ft. No conflict resulted. Having no STAR makes it 100% dependent on hearing and reading back clearance with no backup.
