Narrative:
We were delayed out of ewr. All the sbound departures were stopped by ZNY due to WX over ZDC (we learned about this after takeoff). We were delayed about 2 hours and our fuel was getting close to our minimum takeoff fuel. We were issued a new clearance. We copied it and checked the route and didn't think too much about it. It was after takeoff that we realized that we had a clearance, which we were unable to fly (no HF radio). We immediately advised ATC and they issued us our original clearance over land. Our flight continued without any further incidence. We should have checked the new clearance for legality. We felt that we needed to get out of ewr. Low fuel, running out of supplies for our passenger, last leg. Always, always take your time. Stop and think and only then continue.
